The popular Honda Civic lineup has received a facelift for the 2025 model year, featuring refreshed styling, enhanced technology, and, notably, a hybrid powertrain. The new hybrid model is significant, with Honda expecting it to make up about 40% of Civic sales, highlighting the company’s commitment to electrification. Following the all-electric Prologue and hydrogen-powered CR-V e:FCEV, the Civic Hybrid is a testament to Honda’s serious approach to greener technology.

The Civic Hybrid is the most powerful non-Type R Civic yet, thanks to a hybrid setup that pairs a 2.0-liter engine with dual electric motors. This configuration delivers an anticipated 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, making it quicker than the outgoing 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Honda estimates it will achieve 50 mpg on the EPA cycle. Alternatively, a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine with 158 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque is available. Both powertrains drive the front wheels, with the Civic using a CVT and the Civic Hybrid an eCVT.

For 2025, the Civic’s exterior has been lightly revised with a new grille and sportier bumper design. Hybrid models are distinguished by a unique front bumper and color-coded headlight garnish. Four trims will be offered: LX (sedan only), Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The sporty Si trim has not been mentioned but is expected to return later.

All Sport trims feature black 18-inch wheels and darkened exterior trim, while the Sport Touring Hybrid adds exclusive machine-finished alloy wheels. New exterior colors include Blue Lagoon Pearl (sedan only), Sand Dune Pearl (hatchback), Solar Silver Metallic, and Urban Gray Pearl. These updates keep the Civic fresh and appealing.

Interior updates are focused mainly on the hybrid models. The Sport Touring Hybrid trim debuts Google Built-In, integrating Google Assistant, Google Maps, and various apps via Google Play, with a three-year complimentary data plan. The hybrid models feature a gray interior, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a sunroof. The Sport Touring Hybrid also includes a 12-speaker Bose sound system, leather upholstery, a wireless charger, and a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All Civic models now have a USB-C port in the front row.

On the safety front, the 2025 Civic includes the Honda Sensing suite, featuring forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, Road Departure Mitigation, and Collision Mitigation Braking System with a pedestrian monitor. Sport trims add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. All models come with front, side, knee, and side-curtain airbags, including an advanced three-chamber front airbag design for the front passenger.

The 2025 Civic Sedan will be available at dealers starting next month, with the hatchback following in the summer. Pricing has not been announced but is expected to be similar to the current model, which starts at $23,950 for the LX Sedan and goes up to $31,450 for the Sport Touring Hatchback.
