Marking six decades of dominance, Ford reveals the 60th Anniversary Mustang Limited Edition, embodying a rich legacy with exclusive features and designs.

Ford is set to mark the Mustang’s 60th anniversary with a bang by introducing a Limited Edition model later this year. Since its debut in 1964, the Mustang has consistently been a top seller in the sports car category, even securing the title of the best-selling sports car in America for 2023. This achievement is part of a longer trend, with the Mustang leading global sports car sales for over a decade.

The 60th-anniversary celebrations will kick off with the unveiling of a limited-edition appearance package at an exclusive event for Mustang owners. This event is scheduled for April 17 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, with registration currently open on Ford’s website. The new model will feature a unique Vermillion Red and Ebony Black logo, paying homage to the original Mustang’s debut at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.

In addition to the appearance package, all Mustang owners with the SYNC 4 infotainment system will receive a special update on April 17, provided they have enabled ’Automatic Software Updates.’ This update is expected to include customized visuals for the infotainment and instrumentation systems, possibly incorporating retro gauge cluster designs.

While the appearance package is exciting, enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating more substantial announcements, possibly including the introduction of more special editions throughout the year. One particularly anticipated model is the Mustang GTD, developed by Multimatic. This supercar aims to complete a lap of the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes, a feat that would be a highlight of the 60th-anniversary celebrations.

Ford’s success with the Mustang is undeniable, with over 59,000 units delivered worldwide last year, nearly 45,000 of which were in the United States. Despite strong competition from models like the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro, the Mustang has maintained its leading position in the market.

As we move into 2024, the Mustang faces little competition, and Ford is optimistic about continuing its sales dominance. Jeff Marentic, General Manager at Ford, expressed pride in the Mustang’s legacy and excitement for the future, highlighting the global reach of the seventh-generation Mustang.

Ford’s commitment to the Mustang and its enthusiastic community is clear as it celebrates this significant milestone, promising exciting developments for fans and owners alike.
