In an electrifying demonstration of endurance and capability, the all-electric Ford Explorer has completed a groundbreaking 30,000 km drive around the world, setting a record for electric vehicles. Behind the wheel was the intrepid adventurer Lexie Alford, who became the first person to circumnavigate the globe in an electric vehicle, showcasing the Explorer’s robust performance across a variety of challenging terrains and conditions. This monumental journey, dubbed the Charge Around The Globe, not only puts the new Ford Explorer on the map as a vehicle of unmatched capability but also marks its official launch to the public.

Ending her journey in Nice, France, Lexie and the Explorer were greeted by a convoy of iconic Ford vehicles, highlighting the automaker’s rich heritage and its bold step into the future with electric mobility. Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, emphasized the company’s dedication to injecting passion and emotion into electric vehicles in Europe, stating, «There are enough boring cars and SUVs out there. The new Explorer represents Ford’s unique character».

The Explorer’s journey is a testament to what electric vehicles can achieve. Crossing six continents, 27 countries, and overcoming obstacles like power outages, lack of charging infrastructure, and extreme weather conditions, the expedition demonstrated the all-electric Explorer’s readiness for any adventure. Martin Sander, general manager of Ford Model e Europe, remarked on the journey as the ultimate test drive, showcasing the vehicle’s versatility and the global charging infrastructure’s readiness.

The all-electric Ford Explorer is Ford’s first passenger EV developed and built in Europe, combining German engineering with American style. Available with either a single motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) or a dual motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain, the Explorer is designed for performance in any climate, boasting up to 602 km of driving range on a single charge. Charging is swift and convenient, with the ability to recharge from 10–80% in about 26 minutes using DC fast charging.

Beyond its impressive capabilities, the Explorer is a sanctuary of luxury and technology. From the heated and massaging driver’s seat to the voice-activated SYNC Move infotainment system with an adjustable touchscreen, every detail is designed for comfort and convenience. The Explorer Premium model elevates the experience further with features like a 10-speaker B&O sound system and ambient interior lighting, ensuring every journey is as enjoyable as it is exhilarating.

With the FordPass app, Explorer drivers can easily access over 600,000 charging points across Europe, and the new partnership with Allego promises ultra-fast chargers at Ford dealerships. The vehicle also features advanced driver assist technologies, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control and Clear Exit Warning, enhancing safety and convenience for drivers and passengers alike.

The all-electric Ford Explorer is more than just a vehicle; it’s a statement of Ford’s commitment to sustainable, powerful, and luxurious mobility. With its global journey complete, the Explorer is ready to take on the adventures of customers worldwide, promising an electric future filled with excitement and exploration.
