Mercedes Unveils 2024 EQS with Enhanced Range and MANUFAKTUR Special Edition
Experience the latest in electric luxury with the 2024 Mercedes EQS: Boasting an extended driving range, refined design elements, upgraded towing capabilities, and the exclusive MANUFAKTUR Special Edition.
Mercedes-Benz has always been at the forefront of automotive innovation, and their latest update to the EQS and its siblings-the EQE, EQS SUV, and EQE SUV-stands as a testament to this legacy. In a swift response to market and customer feedback, Mercedes has introduced an extensive update package for the 2024 change year, especially for the EQS, enhancing its range, aesthetics, and rear comfort significantly.
The electric flagship, EQS, now promises up to 82 kilometers (approximately 51 miles) more range, thanks to an increased battery capacity from 108.4 kWh to 118 kWh. This enhancement propels the EQS 450 4MATIC’s maximum range from 717 to 799 kilometers (about 446 to 496 miles), marking an impressive increase of over 11 percent in range. Furthermore, the EQS 450+ model can now exceed the 800-kilometer (almost 500 miles) threshold, setting a new standard for electric vehicle range.
In addition to the mechanical upgrades, the EQS’s exterior receives a fresh look with a new radiator cover featuring chrome applications and an upright Mercedes star on the hood, blending the avant-garde EQ aesthetics with the iconic, status-conscious Mercedes-Benz symbol. This aesthetic refinement is carried into the interior as well, with chrome-galvanized frames around the ventilation nozzles on the B-pillars and a more luxurious rear seating area.
Mercedes has not only improved the EQS’s battery capacity and aesthetics but has also significantly increased its towing capacity for the EQS and EQE sedans with 4MATIC, from 750 kilograms to 1,700 kilograms. This upgrade allows these sedans to tow heavy loads, such as a horse trailer, matching the towing capabilities of their SUV counterparts. Additionally, a special function will maintain the brake system by periodically applying the pads to the discs, addressing the reduced usage of brake discs due to high recuperation in daily operation.
The new EQS can be ordered from April 25, 2024, with the basic prices remaining unchanged despite the upgraded standard equipment. This demonstrates Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to offering value to their customers alongside technological advancements.
The EQS also introduces the «Automatic Lane Change» function in Europe, a further development of driving assistance systems that supports automatic lane changing on motorways under certain conditions, enhancing safety and convenience for drivers.
To celebrate this update, Mercedes-Benz is launching the MANUFAKTUR Selection, a special edition of the EQS sedan, available from April 25, 2024. This edition features exclusive paint options, AMG Styling, a luxurious MANUFAKTUR interior package with exclusive Nappa leather upholstery, and other edition-specific features, offering an unparalleled luxury experience.
In summary, the 2024 update for the Mercedes-Benz EQS marks a significant milestone in the evolution of electric vehicles, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation, luxury, and sustainability. With increased range, enhanced aesthetics, improved comfort, and special edition offerings, the EQS continues to set the bar high for the electric vehicle market.
