Volkswagen is set to revolutionize the mid-sized sedan and estate segment with its announcement of expanding the drive system options for the new Passat. The automotive giant has started pre-sales for two innovative plug-in hybrid drives alongside the launch of two additional turbodiesel versions, broadening the appeal of the Passat range to a wider audience.

The spotlight shines on the new eHybrid models, which feature outputs of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS), marking a significant milestone in hybrid technology. With electric ranges of up to 120 km, these models stand out as practical electric cars for everyday use. The integration of an 85 kW electric motor with a high-tech turbocharged petrol engine, available in 110 kW (150 PS) or 130 kW (177 PS) configurations, exemplifies Volkswagen’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The 19.7 kWh battery supports 11 kW AC and up to 50 kW DC charging, ensuring that the eHybrids are not only efficient but also ideal for long-distance travel. The Passat eHybrid with 150 kW starts at €50,320, while the more powerful 200 kW variant begins at €62,470, offering a luxurious driving experience in the Passat, Business, and Elegance lines, as well as the sporty R-Line.

Volkswagen also introduces two new turbodiesel (TDI) versions, enhancing the Passat’s reputation for performance and efficiency. The entry-level Passat TDI, with a power output of 90 kW (122 PS), is pegged as one of the most economical estate models in its class. Priced from €41,745, this model is available in the Passat and Business equipment lines, delivering superior power with a maximum torque of 320 Nm. For those seeking more power, the Passat TDI 4MOTION offers 142 kW (193 PS) with all-wheel drive as standard, ensuring optimum traction across all terrains. This top-of-the-line diesel variant is priced from €57,475 and is available exclusively in the Elegance and R-Line specifications.

The Passat’s range is further enriched with the previously introduced mild hybrid (eTSI) and a 110 kW TDI version, catering to a broad spectrum of driving preferences and needs. The mild hybrid model, starting at €39,995, showcases Volkswagen’s innovative 48 V belt-driven starter alternator technology, available for the Passat and Business lines. Meanwhile, the 110 kW TDI version, with prices starting at €48,495, continues to offer reliability and efficiency in the Business, Elegance, and R-Line equipment lines.

With the expansion of its drive system offerings, Volkswagen solidifies the Passat’s position as a versatile and forward-thinking choice for both business and personal use. By integrating advanced plug-in hybrid technology and refining its diesel options, Volkswagen not only caters to the current demand for more sustainable and efficient vehicles but also sets new standards in the automotive industry. Whether it’s for everyday commutes, business travel, or long-distance journeys, the new Passat range offers something for every driver, combining innovation, luxury, and performance.
