Taycan Turbo GT & Weissach Edition: Porsche’s Electric Powerhouses
Discover Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT and Weissach package, setting new records with over 1,100 PS and innovative track-focused features for ultimate performance.
Porsche is broadening its electric sports sedan range with the introduction of the Taycan Turbo GT and its track-focused variant, the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the Weissach package. The Weissach version emphasizes performance with a rear seat removal for an enhanced power-to-weight ratio.
Both models boast over 1,100 PS at peak power, coupled with state-of-the-art lightweight and aerodynamic designs, propelling driving dynamics to new heights. The Taycan Turbo GT models feature a rear-axle pulse inverter made of silicon carbide, optimizing efficiency and power. Customer deliveries are anticipated to start this spring.
The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package set a new record as the fastest electric series-production car at California’s Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, with Porsche test driver Lars Kern clocking a lap time of 1:27.87min. Shortly before, the same model broke the Nürburgring class record with a lap of 7:07.55 min., establishing it as the quickest four-door electric car and overall fastest four-door vehicle at the Nürburgring.
Kevin Giek, Model Line Vice President, praised the track capabilities of the Taycan, attributing the records to the comprehensive engineering of the vehicles. Lars Kern highlighted the exceptional performance of the Turbo GT with Weissach package at Laguna Seca, especially noting its impressive acceleration, braking, and cornering grip.
The Taycan Turbo GT models feature an «Attack Mode,» providing a temporary power boost for enhanced track performance, reminiscent of the push-to-pass function in Porsche’s Formula E race cars. The models have been upgraded with a more powerful pulse inverter, offering significant increases in system power and torque, leading to remarkable acceleration times.
Weight reduction strategies, including the use of carbon fiber components and other lightweight materials, have decreased the Taycan Turbo GT’s weight by up to 75 kg compared to the Turbo S. The dynamics package, standard on the Turbo GT, includes a Porsche Active Ride suspension and performance-oriented tires for superior road handling.
Special aerodynamic enhancements and exclusive design elements, such as a front spoiler with aeroblades and an adaptive rear spoiler with a Gurney flap, distinguish the Turbo GT models. The vehicles also feature high-performance ceramic brakes and a variety of customization options, including exclusive exterior colors and interior features designed for both comfort and performance.
The Weissach package version takes the track focus further with additional aerodynamic and lightweight construction measures, shedding an extra 70 kg and achieving faster acceleration and a higher top speed than the Turbo GT. This package emphasizes the car’s motorsport heritage with unique design elements and reduces non-essential equipment for a purer track experience.
