Hyundai Motor Company has announced significant updates to its dedicated electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the upcoming release of an enhanced IONIQ 5 and the introduction of a new IONIQ 5 N Line.

The enhanced IONIQ 5 now comes with an increased battery capacity of 84.0 kWh, up from the previous 77.4 kWh, resulting in an extended all-electric range. Exterior modifications include a refined V-shape garnish and restyled front and rear bumpers, contributing to the vehicle’s low and wide SUV stance. These changes have slightly increased the IONIQ 5’s length by 20 mm, while maintaining its other dimensions. Aerodynamic performance is also improved with an extended rear spoiler and new aerodynamic wheels.

Interior updates focus on improved usability and convenience, featuring a redesigned center console with a physical button for frequently used functions, and a relocated smartphone wireless charging pad for better accessibility. The steering wheel now incorporates interactive pixel lights, and the layout of infotainment and air conditioning controls has been optimized.

Hyundai has also introduced a next-generation infotainment system, the connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), and wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates to keep the vehicle’s major electronic controls up to date. New safety and convenience features include the Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel, enhanced Lane Keeping Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist.

The vehicle’s ride comfort and safety have been enhanced with a new shock absorber system, increased rigidity in key areas, improved stability and agility through reinforcements, and optimized noise control. Safety features are bolstered with reinforced body parts and an eight-airbag system.

The IONIQ 5 N Line, positioned between the base model and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N, brings sportier styling with unique front and rear designs, side skirts, and dedicated 20-inch aluminum wheels. The interior features N Line exclusive elements such as a steering wheel, dashboard design, metal pedals, sport seats with the N logo, and red contrast stitching, offering a dynamic driving environment.

These updates to the IONIQ 5 and the introduction of the IONIQ 5 N Line underscore Hyundai’s commitment to enhancing its EV offerings. The enhanced IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 5 N Line are set to become available for Korean customers starting March 2024, with plans to gradually roll out to global markets throughout the year. This move is expected to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles that combine eco-friendly performance with cutting-edge design and technology.
