Xiaomi, primarily known for its smartphones and electronic devices, has ventured into the automotive sector with the unveiling of its first electric vehicle, the Xiaomi SU7. Launched as a «C-class high-performance ecological technology sedan,» the SU7 marks Xiaomi’s bold entry into the electric car market. The car showcases a sleek design and high-performance metrics that could set new standards in the EV space.

The design team behind the SU7 includes experts from prestigious automotive brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW, with consultancy from renowned car designer Chris Bangle. The vehicle features a sporty silhouette with a long wheelbase and short overhangs, embodying the essence of a sporty coupe. Its aerodynamic profile, highlighted by water drop-shaped headlights and halo-shaped taillights, contributes to its low drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd, making it one of the most aerodynamically efficient production vehicles.

In terms of performance, the SU7 doesn’t disappoint. The Max version of the car, equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, boasts an impressive 673 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds. The car’s top speed is capped at 265km/h. It also features a 101kWh battery, enabling a substantial 800km range on a single charge, with rapid charging capabilities that add significant range in mere minutes.

Inside, the SU7 offers a spacious and luxurious cabin, accentuated by a panoramic glass area and a suite of advanced technological features. This includes a large touchscreen display, a comprehensive HUD, and an immersive 25-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos. Safety is a key focus, with the SU7 featuring a robust steel-aluminum hybrid body, multiple airbags, and a suite of active safety features.

Xiaomi’s integration of technology extends to the SU7’s compatibility with its ecosystem of devices, allowing for seamless connectivity with Xiaomi and other popular tech products. The car is equipped with Xiaomi’s HyperOS system, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, ensuring a high level of software integration and smart features.

Scheduled for official launch in the first half of 2024, the Xiaomi SU7 represents a significant milestone for Xiaomi as it expands its product portfolio into the automotive industry. With its ambitious goals, Xiaomi aims to be among the top car manufacturers in the coming decades.
