BMW will refresh the iX in spring 2025, introducing subtle design changes and new badges.

BMW is set to launch its Neue Klasse generation of vehicles next year, beginning with the iX3 electric SUV. To ensure this new compact EV doesn’t outshine its more expensive sibling, the iX, BMW will be giving the iX a facelift around the same time.

Slated for a spring 2025 launch as a 2026 model year in the U.S., the updated iX won’t look drastically different from the current model, which has been polarizing opinions since its debut in 2020. The facelift will include subtle enhancements such as a glowing outline for the large grille and a new set of LED lights. While some sources suggest these new lights will be slimmer, it seems that camouflage tape on the lower portion of the lights gives this impression, as the overall design appears to retain the one-piece light units instead of the split-light design seen on other high-end BMWs.

The camouflage also hides the final design of the outer portions of the new bumpers, though it seems likely that the front splitter might be larger, and there could be minor updates to the rear bumper as well.

These exterior updates alone might not be enough to prompt current iX owners to upgrade immediately, but the changes under the hood might. The revised lineup will include the iX xDrive45 replacing the xDrive40, the xDrive60 replacing the xDrive50, and the range-topping iX M70 replacing the current iX M60. The iX M70 is expected to adopt the i7’s 650 hp setup, up from the M60’s 610 hp, likely paired with an improved driving range.

These updates reflect BMW’s strategy to maintain the iX’s appeal while introducing the next generation of electric vehicles.
