Ford’s new Mustang GTD starts at $325,000 in the U.S., offering track-level performance with a supercharged V8 and advanced aerodynamics.

Ford has opened applications for the track-focused 2025 Mustang GTD, but potential buyers might experience some sticker shock upon seeing the price tag.

When the Mustang GTD was first introduced in August of the previous year, Ford announced a starting price of about $300,000—a surprisingly high figure for a Mustang. Now, eight months later, the dedicated application website indicates that the starting price in the U.S. is expected to be around $325,000. Canadian buyers will face an even steeper price of approximately CAD$440,000 for this limited-edition model.

Ford plans to begin producing the North American-spec models between late 2024 and early 2025. Applications for potential buyers in Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East will open this June. Applicants will need to demonstrate their suitability to Ford by providing detailed information through a registration process. This includes creating an account, submitting contact and address details, and answering questions about their involvement with Ford Mustangs, the motorsport community, car collecting, their influence on public opinion, and ownership of similar high-performance vehicles from other brands.

Furthermore, Ford requires applicants to submit a 60-second video explaining why they would be ideal owners of the Mustang GTD. This application process mirrors that used for the Ford GT, indicating Ford’s intention to allocate the Mustang GTD to those who will actively drive, showcase, and feature the car at public events. While Ford has not disclosed the exact production numbers, it is expected that they will manufacture between 1,000 and 2,000 units.

Those allocated a Mustang GTD will receive a vehicle akin to the Mustang GT3 race car, featuring a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine capable of revving over 7,500 rpm and producing more than 800 hp. The car also boasts advanced semi-active suspension and a comprehensive aerodynamic package. With these specifications, Ford is aiming for a lap time under seven minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
