Ford announces recalls for Mustang, Bronco Sport, and Maverick due to fuel line and tire issues, urging owners to seek inspections and repairs.

Ford has announced a series of recalls that impact a relatively small number of vehicles, yet the manufacturer is taking swift action to address these issues. Affecting just 477 cars across the Mustang, Bronco Sport, and Maverick model lines, these recalls are centered around potential safety risks related to fuel lines and tire construction.

The first recall concerns 362 four-cylinder Mustangs from the 2024 model year, identified to possibly have damaged or cut fuel lines. Ford has traced this issue back to a Tier 1 supplier where an unauthorized manual rework process was performed using a hand-held cutting tool to smooth out the uneven finish of the fuel line’s outer sleeve. This procedure, not approved by Ford, could compromise the integrity of the fuel line, leading to leaks that pose a significant safety hazard.

Owners of the affected Mustangs are urged to visit their local dealerships for an inspection, with Ford committed to replacing the faulty fuel lines as necessary. The promptness of this action underlines the potential severity of a leaky fuel line, which could result in dangerous situations for drivers and passengers alike.

The second recall is related to 2023 Bronco Sport and 2023 Maverick models equipped with Michelin tires that may have been incorrectly manufactured. This issue stems from a mislabeled bobbin used during the tire production process, resulting in a hybrid cap ply composed of aramid and nylon, rather than the standard all-nylon composition. This discrepancy in materials could affect the tire’s performance, presenting another safety risk that Ford is keen to rectify.

In total, 115 vehicles are affected by the tire recall, with Ford providing detailed information that specifically points to the Michelin Primacy All-Season tires in size 225/60/18. This narrows down the potentially impacted vehicles, particularly excluding those equipped with all-terrain tires or 17-inch wheels. The Bronco Sport Outer Banks model, which commonly features 18-inch wheels without all-terrain tires, is one of the models for owners to be particularly vigilant about.

Ford is proactively reaching out to owners of the recalled vehicles, but those concerned can also take the initiative to check their car’s status. By contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealership or entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website, owners can quickly determine if their vehicle is impacted by these recalls.

These recalls, though affecting a small number of vehicles, highlight Ford’s commitment to safety and its proactive stance on addressing potential risks. Vehicle owners are encouraged to respond to recall notices promptly to ensure their safety and that of their passengers.
