The Hennessey Venom F5 is a remarkable testament to the capabilities of modern engineering, blending raw power with sleek design to push the boundaries of automotive performance. Developed and manufactured by Hennessey Special Vehicles, a division established in 2017, the Venom F5 marks a significant milestone as the company’s inaugural proprietary vehicle, crafted in collaboration with Delta Motorsport of Silverstone, England.
Named after the highest rating on the Fujita scale for tornadoes, the F5, the Venom F5 is designed with the ambition to exceed speeds of 300 mph, potentially making it the world’s fastest production car. This hypercar made its initial appearance in 2014 and was later showcased as an exterior mock-up at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, without an engine or interior at the time.
The heart of the Venom F5 is a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, dubbed «Fury,» capable of delivering an astonishing 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque. The engine’s power enables the car to achieve remarkable acceleration times, with Hennessey claiming it can go from 0 to 186 mph in under 10 seconds and from 0 to 249 mph in approximately 20 seconds. The power is managed through a 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission equipped with paddle shifters, propelling the rear wheels.
With a chassis and body constructed predominantly from carbon fiber, the Venom F5 not only boasts a lightweight structure but also incorporates active aerodynamics, a first for Hennessey. This contributes to a low drag coefficient and, combined with a power-to-weight ratio of 1,358 hp per ton, enhances the car’s agility and speed.
Hennessey has ensured that the Venom F5 is not just about extreme performance but also offers a spacious and comfortable interior, catering to drivers and passengers of all sizes. The car’s exclusivity is underscored by its limited production run of just 24 units, with a price tag that initially started at $1.6 million but was later adjusted to $2.1 million for the remaining models. Despite the high price, all planned units were sold by August 2021.
The Venom F5 stands as a testament to Hennessey’s dedication to pushing the limits of performance and luxury in the hypercar market, promising an unparalleled driving experience for the lucky few who will own this remarkable machine.
