The Ford Puma has evolved into a notable contender in the compact crossover SUV segment since its launch in 2019. Designed to bridge the gap between the smaller Fiesta and the larger SUV offerings from Ford, the Puma has garnered attention for its blend of practicality, performance, and advanced technology.

The latest iteration of the Puma, particularly the ST Powershift model, showcases Ford’s commitment to blending performance with efficiency. Powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engine, the Puma ST Powershift is equipped with a seven-speed Ford Powershift transmission that promises smooth and efficient driving, especially in stop-start traffic conditions. The model is tuned for an engaging driving experience with features like triple downshifts for quicker overtaking and a Sport Drive Mode that enhances responsiveness. The advanced transmission also supports features like Stop & Go functionality for Adaptive Cruise Control, enhancing convenience in varied driving conditions.

The Puma’s design is both functional and stylish, with a Ford Performance-embossed splitter to increase downforce and a range of ST-exclusive colors, including the new Azura Blue. The interior is equally impressive, offering Ford Performance-developed sports seats, a wireless charging pad, and a host of driver assistance technologies. Notably, the Puma retains its practicality with an innovative Ford MegaBox providing an additional 80-litre storage space beneath the boot floor, capable of accommodating a range of items from shopping bags to golf clubs.

The Puma has received mixed reviews from automotive critics. While some have pointed out challenges with the infotainment system and ride quality compared to competitors, others have praised its clutch and brakes, as well as the unique «megabox» feature for added practicality. The Puma’s spacious boot and large windows, which help reduce motion sickness for rear passengers, have also been highlighted as positive aspects.

In terms of accolades, the Puma has been recognized by What Car? magazine, receiving the Car of the Year title in 2020 and subsequent awards for its variants in the small SUV and sports SUV categories.

With a blend of performance-oriented features and everyday practicality, the Ford Puma continues to make a mark in the compact crossover segment, catering to a wide range of driver preferences and needs.
