The Ford Explorer EV marks a significant step forward in Ford’s electric vehicle lineup, showcasing the fusion of American automotive heritage with modern electric vehicle technology. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the Ford Explorer EV is a mid-size SUV designed to cater to the needs of families and adventure enthusiasts alike.

The Explorer EV boasts a range of up to 374 miles on a single charge, setting a new standard for electric vehicle range and reliability. This increase in range comes after Ford re-engineered the EV with a new NMC battery pack, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations and enhancing the vehicle’s overall performance.

The vehicle is available in three power outputs to suit different driving needs and preferences. The entry-level model features a single electric motor with 168 bhp, driving the rear wheels, while the mid-range option offers 282 bhp. The top-of-the-line model includes a second motor for four-wheel drive, delivering an impressive 335 bhp, which is more power than any version of the ID 4 that shares the same battery packs.

Ford has packed the Explorer EV with advanced technology and features to enhance the driving experience. The interior boasts a 15.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that can be adjusted for height, providing a customizable interface for drivers of different statures. The system is expected to be responsive and user-friendly, based on Ford’s Sync software used in other models like the Mustang Mach E.

Charging the Explorer EV is convenient and efficient, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in just about 25 minutes. This fast charging capability is complemented by access to a wide network of charging stations across Europe, ensuring that drivers can easily find a charging point when needed.

The Ford Explorer EV is not just about performance and technology; it also focuses on comfort and practicality. The SUV offers ample storage space, with a versatile center console that can accommodate a variety of items, from laptops to large drink bottles. The vehicle also comes equipped with advanced driver assistance features, including lane-change assistance, self-parking systems, and a comprehensive suite of safety technologies.

Ford’s commitment to electrification in Europe is evident in the Explorer EV, which is part of the automaker’s plan to become an all-electric brand by 2035. With a starting price of £39,875 for the Explorer Select 52 kWh RWD model, Ford aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.

As Ford continues to innovate and expand its electric vehicle offerings, the Explorer EV stands out as a testament to the company’s dedication to sustainability, performance, and customer satisfaction in the evolving automotive landscape.
