Top Safety Picks for Acura and Honda 2024 Lineup
Acura Integra, MDX, and Honda Accord, HR-V lead with TSP+ awards, showcasing advanced safety and driver-assist technologies.
In 2024, the Acura Integra and MDX received the highest TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) distinction, while the RDX was honored with the TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) award. Similarly, the Honda Accord and HR-V were awarded the TSP+ rating, with the CR-V, Odyssey, and Pilot achieving the TSP rating. All recognized Acura and Honda models excelled in the updated side crash test, now more stringent with 82% additional crash energy, each earning the highest GOOD rating.
The accolades highlight the commitment of three Acura models and five Honda models to safety, as endorsed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2024. These vehicles are equipped with AcuraWatch™ and Honda Sensing® technologies, now standard across all Acura and Honda vehicles, enhancing safety with features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Over seven million Acura and Honda vehicles on U.S. roads today are outfitted with these advanced driver-assistive technologies.
The structural integrity of Acura and Honda vehicles is fortified by Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which significantly enhances occupant protection in various frontal collisions, complemented by advanced restraint systems like pretensioning seatbelts and a comprehensive array of airbags.
The 2024 IIHS award recipients for Acura include the Integra and MDX with the TSP+ rating and the RDX with the TSP rating. For Honda, the 2024 award winners are the Accord and HR-V with TSP+ ratings, and the CR-V, Odyssey, and Pilot with TSP ratings.
Honda continues to pursue its vision of a collision-free society, emphasizing «Safety for Everyone» by enhancing road safety for all users. The company’s investment in advanced crash-test facilities in Ohio and Japan underpins its leadership in crashworthiness, collision compatibility, and pedestrian safety. Honda’s commitment to safety is further demonstrated by the integration of advanced passive and active safety features, including the ACE™ body structure and innovative passenger front airbag technology, alongside the widespread application of Honda Sensing® and AcuraWatch™ technologies, paving the way towards the future of highly automated driving.
