Ram CEO Chris Feuell announces the upcoming release of an updated heavy-duty pickup featuring advanced technology from the Ram 1500 and an enhanced Cummins powertrain.

Ram CEO Chris Feuell has announced that the company is preparing to release an updated heavy-duty pickup later this year. This new iteration will incorporate advanced technology from the Ram 1500, enhancing both functionality and driving experience.

Feuell didn’t reveal many specifics but highlighted that the facelifted Ram 1500 boasts an improved 12-inch infotainment system and a newly available 14.5-inch display. Additionally, customers can opt for a 10.25-inch front passenger display and a dual wireless smartphone charger. It’s likely that these new screens will also be featured in the updated 2500 HD and 3500 HD models. There is speculation that a new Tungsten trim could be introduced as well.

Furthermore, Feuell hinted at the inclusion of more autonomous driving technologies, suggesting that Hands-Free Driving Assist might be added to the heavy-duty pickups.

Regarding the powertrain, Feuell confirmed an «improved powertrain, thanks to our friends at Cummins.» While details are sparse, it is believed he is referring to an upgraded 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six engine. The current engine comes in two variants: the entry-level unit produces 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version offers 420 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

In terms of design, previous spy photos indicate that we can expect minor styling tweaks, mainly focused on the grille and lighting units.

Feuell also noted that the Laramie and Big Horn trims are the most popular versions of the Ram 1500, accounting for about 42% of sales in North America. The company has high expectations for the all-new Ram 1500 RHO, which offers «more horsepower per dollar than any performance truck» and strikes a balance between pricing and profit margins.
