Nissan’s Z Heritage Edition Arrives in the US, Celebrating 55 Years of the Iconic Datsun 240Z
The new Nissan Z Heritage Edition is now available in the US, featuring a retro design and exclusive Sight Orange paint.
The highly anticipated retro-themed Z Heritage Edition is finally arriving in America. Initially unveiled in January 2022 at the Tokyo Auto Salon as the Fairlady Z Customized Proto, it later evolved into the production model known as the Fairlady Z Customized Edition for Japan in mid-2023. Now, this special edition, celebrating 55 years since the debut of the Datsun 240Z, is making its way to the US market.
Retro Styling and Unique Features
The Z Heritage Edition pays homage to the original S30-generation sports car from 1969 with an exclusive Sight Orange paint job, complemented by a black decal that runs across the hood, roof, and trunk lid. Additional stickers adorn the sides, and a Heritage Edition logo is placed around the Z emblems on the rear fenders. The front split grille design also takes inspiration from the original Z.
In comparison, the Japanese version includes a retro-styled Fairlady Z badge on the upper grille and rear spoiler, highlighting its official JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) name. The American version features subtle fender extensions and shares the same black-finished 19-inch wheels.
Performance and Pricing
Based on the Z Performance trim level, the Heritage Edition offers buyers a choice between a six-speed manual and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Priced at $60,275, including destination and handling fees, it carries a $6,165 premium over the standard Z Performance model. For those seeking even more performance, the Z Nismo is available for approximately $66,890 but is only offered with an automatic transmission.
Limited Production and Availability
Nissan has not disclosed the exact production numbers for the Z Heritage Edition but has confirmed it will be available exclusively for the 2024 model year. This limited production run adds to the model’s appeal for collectors and enthusiasts.
In the first quarter of the year, Z sales in the US saw a 44 percent increase, totaling 671 units, outpacing the Toyota Supra, which sold 484 units and experienced a 44.4 percent decline.
