The Rivian R1T and R1S are getting a 2025 refresh with subtle design updates and enhanced range. Changes include split lightbars, updated headlight elements, and improved range for the R1T All-Terrain.

The Rivian R2 and R3 platforms may be getting most of the buzz lately, but the R1 is set for a refresh soon. Observant fans have spotted a facelifted model alongside the current version and noticed some statistical improvements online. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from the updated Rivian R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV.

First, let’s talk about styling and design. Before the Tesla Cybertruck, the R1T was one of the most strikingly styled EVs. Its bumper-spanning lightbar and oval lighting elements made it easily recognizable. For 2025, these features have been subtly updated.

A user on RivianForums first spotted the changes on the R1S. The lightbar is now split into two sections—upper and lower. The headlight assemblies also appear to have new elements, and beneath them is a secondary bar that could house additional lights or sensors.

There are two other significant changes to the front end. First, the prominent tow hooks on current R1 models have been replaced by a flat bumper, with a small round cover indicating that a tow hook can be added if needed. Second, the lower lighting elements on the bumper have been replaced by a single wide element. Additionally, the exterior door handles now have a small dimple, although its function is unclear. The rear end seems unchanged, but other modifications are rumored.

According to Rivian Forums, some models now boast enhanced range. For instance, the R1T All-Terrain with 20-inch wheels now achieves up to 363 miles of range, up from 355 miles in the 2024 R1S. For a detailed breakdown of the figures reported to the EPA, see the relevant thread on Rivian Forums.
