Newly Updated Kia EV6 Debuts with Advanced Tech and Improved Range
The facelifted Kia EV6, launched in South Korea, showcases a new design and tech upgrades including a larger 84 kWh battery, promising greater range and rapid charging capabilities.
The recently unveiled facelifted Kia EV6, revealed in South Korea, sports a fresh design that’s more striking than its predecessor. The updated electric crossover features significant aesthetic revisions, particularly at the front, where Kia has replaced the conventional headlights with sleeker, angular LED lights, aligning the design more closely with newer models like the EV3 and EV9.
Interior upgrades are substantial, including a new curved panoramic screen that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, and the addition of a fingerprint reader for keyless start. The latest tech enhancements also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with expanded capability for over-the-air updates that now extend to major electronic control systems.
On the performance front, the EV6 now houses Hyundai Motor Group’s latest 84 kWh battery, an upgrade from the previous 77.4 kWh pack, promising an increased range of up to 494 km (307 miles) on the Korean test cycle for rear-wheel drive models equipped with 19-inch wheels. This model also supports rapid 350 kW DC charging, allowing for a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.
In terms of comfort and safety, the facelifted EV6 introduces refined frequency-selective dampers for improved ride comfort, quieter motors, and a strengthened body structure. Set to launch next month in Korea, the EV6 will start at 55.4 million Korean won (approximately $40,500) for the base variant, with higher trims and specifications available at an increased price.
More details about the North American release and specifications of the facelifted Kia EV6 are expected to be announced soon. This refresh aims to bolster the EV6’s appeal by blending advanced technology with enhanced driving dynamics and range, maintaining its competitive edge in the bustling electric vehicle market.
