Lamborghini is gearing up to unveil the plug-in hybrid successor to the Huracan in August, anticipated to be a formidable competitor to the Ferrari 296 GTB. The new model, potentially named the Temerario according to recent trademark filings, has been spotted during testing, showcasing a departure in design from the Huracan. Federico Foschini, Lamborghini’s head of sales and marketing, confirmed the upcoming debut.
The design of the Temerario is expected to incorporate slim, angular headlights and hexagonal LED daytime running lights, drawing inspiration from Lamborghini’s Revuelto. Notable features include an open engine bay with angular buttresses and a high-mounted central exhaust system at the rear, alongside a bold diffuser and partially exposed rear tires, as seen in prototype models.
Lamborghini is transitioning from the Huracan’s 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 to a more potent 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine for the Temerario, enhancing it with unique components to distinguish it from similar engines used in models like the Urus. Additionally, the car will integrate a plug-in hybrid system, which is speculated to include multiple electric motors, though the exact number remains unconfirmed. This hybrid system is expected to deliver over 800 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The availability of both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations has not been confirmed.
