Discover how the Opel Corsa Electric outshone rivals to be named «EV of the Year 2024» in the Netherlands, impressing with its range and charging speed.

The Opel Corsa Electric has clinched the prestigious title of «EV of the Year 2024» in the Netherlands, an accolade awarded by the Association of Business Drivers in the «Mid-Segment» category. This recognition highlights the Corsa Electric’s impressive range of up to 405 kilometers (according to WLTP standards) and its rapid charging capabilities, factors that have significantly contributed to its popularity and sustained sales success.

The «EV of the Year» award, now in its sixth year, is a testament to the automotive industry’s shift towards sustainable mobility solutions. The jury, comprising experts from Leaseplan Nederland, AutoWeek, and Eneco eMobility, evaluates nominees based on a comprehensive set of criteria, including range, charging speed, driving dynamics, towing capacity, user-friendliness, cost (including leasing), and availability.

This recent honor adds to a growing list of awards and recognitions for the Corsa. In 2023, the car not only won the admiration of auto motor und sport readers as the «Best New Design», but it also received acclaim in the UK as the «Best Small Car of the Year» (The Sun), «Best Fleet Supermini» (Fleet World), and «Best Used Small Car» (Carbuyer).

The Opel Corsa’s success story is further underlined by its sales figures. In 2023, it was the best-selling B-segment vehicle in Germany for the third consecutive year, with almost 54,000 new registrations, marking a 7% increase over 2022 and the highest registration figures since 2016. Remarkably, about one in every four newly registered Corsas was the battery-electric version.

In the UK, the Corsa’s counterpart, the Vauxhall Corsa, maintained its status as the top-selling supermini for the third successive year, demonstrating its widespread appeal.

Since its debut in 1982, the Corsa has seen more than 14.5 million units sold globally, testament to its enduring popularity and the recent introduction of the latest model which features the distinctive Opel Vizor brand face, an intuitive cockpit design, the new Intelli-Lux LED® Matrix Light, and numerous other advanced technologies.

This accolade from the Netherlands solidifies the Opel Corsa Electric’s position as a leading option for those seeking a reliable, stylish, and eco-friendly vehicle. Its blend of innovative technology, performance, and environmental consciousness continues to set it apart in the competitive electric vehicle market.
