Jaguar to halt production of most current models by June 2024, paving the way for an electric lineup, including a luxury GT and SUVs, starting in 2025.

As Jaguar transitions to new electric models, the British automaker will stop manufacturing most of its current vehicles by June 2024. However, dealerships are expected to remain stocked during this period.

The production halt primarily affects Jaguar models with gasoline and diesel engines starting from June 2024. The first in a new line of fully electric vehicles from the iconic British brand isn’t slated to arrive until 2025. During this transition period, production lines will pause, raising questions about dealership inventories. Will they be left with empty showrooms? Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) North America, addressed these concerns in an interview with Road&Track, indicating that «most of our products will cease production in June, but they will be available for sale for a much longer period.» JLR is thus planning its production to ensure a continuous supply of vehicles until the new models are launched.

Models ending production in June include the F-Pace SUV, the compact E-Pace, and the XF sedan. Preparations are underway for the final F-Type sports cars ordered by customers. The last model from Jaguar’s current range to conclude its lifecycle, likely early next year, will be the electric I-Pace, assembled in Austria at the Magna Steyr facilities. According to Stuart Schorr, a JLR spokesperson, the Castle Bromwich plant in England will begin transitioning to body components for future models once vehicle production ceases.

The first vehicle of Jaguar’s new electric generation will be a luxury GT, a four-door fastback with all-wheel drive and the first to use Jaguar’s exclusive electric platform, named JEA. Jaguar promises rapid charging, a range of up to 700 km, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. The GT is expected to be revealed later this year, with sales beginning in 2025. Following the GT, two SUV/crossovers based on the JEA platform are anticipated, with the first scheduled for late 2025 and the second in 2026.
