Ford is introducing an innovative way for Mustang enthusiasts to customize their beloved muscle car with the introduction of the factory Matte Clear Film for the 2024 model. This addition marks the first time Ford has offered a matte finish directly from the factory, blending both aesthetic appeal and practical protection for the vehicle's paintwork.

The Matte Clear Film provides a sophisticated satin-like finish, setting a new standard in personalization options for Mustang owners. Alongside existing customization choices such as wheel designs, interior color schemes, contrasting seatbelts, factory-painted brake calipers, and a variety of vibrant paint colors, this new feature adds another layer of individuality to the Mustang lineup.

Applicable across all Mustang coupe models—including the EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse variants—and compatible with all factory paint colors, the Matte Clear Film is set to start reaching customers in June. Additionally, the option will be extended to all Mustang convertible models by the fourth quarter of 2024.

Laurie Transou, Mustang's Chief Program Engineer, emphasized the brand's long-standing commitment to driving freedom and self-expression, stating that the Matte Clear Film opens up a fresh avenue for owners to personalize their Mustangs uniquely.

Developed in collaboration with PPG, the Matte Clear Film is engineered to endure the rigors of various environmental challenges. It is resistant to the harsh detergents used in hand or touchless car washes, as well as common hazards like road salt, bird droppings, bug splatter, and asphalt residue, ensuring the Mustang's appearance remains pristine under various conditions.

Available for order starting February 27, the Matte Clear Film is priced at $5,995. This price includes the reassurance of the same 3-year/36,000-mile factory warranty provided with all 2024 Mustang vehicles, underscoring Ford's confidence in the durability and quality of this new option.

However, it's important to note that the Matte Clear Film has specific compatibility restrictions. For instance, ordering this feature for the Mustang Dark Horse will exclude the standard Hood Accent Stripe and the option for a Painted Racing Stripe. Similarly, the GT California Special package and optional graphics packages for the Mustang EcoBoost and GT are not available with the Matte Clear Film. For those opting for the Mustang Dark Horse, a graphic delete will be available as a standalone item, catering to customers seeking a more subtle, stealthy look for their high-performance Mustang variant.
