New Matte Clear Film Option for 2024 Mustang Coupes Announced by Ford
Ford announces a matte clear film for 2024 Mustang coupes, enhancing protection and style.
Ford has unveiled a fresh option for its 2024 Mustang lineup, including the EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse models: a matte clear film. Starting tomorrow, this satin-finish protective layer can be added to any Mustang coupe in any available shade. Convertible models will be eligible for this addition in the last quarter of the year.
The company anticipates that the matte clear film, which seems to be an exclusive factory addition for new vehicles, will start shipping in June. The availability of this option for existing Mustang owners through dealers remains uncertain, and we’re seeking further details from Ford to clarify.
It’s worth noting that the S650 Mustang was initially launched with a 12-color palette, including unique hues like Atlas Blue and Blue Ember Metallic, the latter exclusive to the Dark Horse variant. This variant also offers the option to omit graphics.
Opting for the matte clear film, however, excludes the possibility of having the standard hood accent stripe, the painted racing stripe, the GT California Special package, and other optional graphic packages.
Priced at $5,995, the cost of the new film is comparable to similar offerings for Tesla vehicles. Ford’s matte clear film, produced by PPG Industries, comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, mirroring the car’s own warranty terms. Designed to resist environmental and road elements like harsh detergents and road salt, the film’s durability specifics are yet to be detailed.
Laurie Transou, the Chief Program Engineer for the Mustang, commented on the introduction of the Matte Clear Film, stating, «Mustang has been about driving freedom and freedom of expression for 60 years, and our new Matte Clear Film provides a new way for customers to make Mustang their own.»
