Toyota Announces Recall for 13,000 Crown Sedans Over Backup Camera Issues
Toyota recalls 13,000 Crown sedans for a defect in the backup camera that may increase the risk of accidents. Affected owners will be contacted in August for free replacements.
Toyota has announced a recall affecting 13,000 Crown sedans due to a defect in the backup camera. This announcement follows a larger recall involving 100,000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles over potential engine failures.
Details on the Crown Camera Issue
Toyota stated, «The frontview and/or rearview camera case may allow water to enter and short circuit the camera, causing certain images to not display. If the rearview image does not display, there can be an increased risk of striking and injuring a pedestrian while backing the vehicle.»
The recall applies to the 2023 model year Crown sedans. Toyota sold 19,063 Crown sedans that year, meaning a significant percentage might be affected. Owners will be contacted in August, and dealerships will replace any faulty cameras at no charge.
