Introducing Ford’s Lightning SuperTruck: Ready for Pikes Peak
Ford will debut its heavily customized F-150 Lightning SuperTruck at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, aiming to set a record with driver Romain Dumas. Stay tuned for the reveal next month.
The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is approaching, and Ford is gearing up to compete with the all-new Lightning SuperTruck. The 102nd Race to the Clouds is renowned as one of the most famous hill climbs globally. Ford has released additional teasers of the pickup, which will be fully unveiled next month.
The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is expected to be a heavily customized version of the standard pickup, much like Ford’s SuperVan, which barely resembles a typical Transit. The latest teaser supports these expectations.
A 48-second teaser trailer offers the best look yet at the Lightning SuperTruck, showcasing its readiness for Pikes Peak. The rear features an impressive spoiler, while the front and rear fenders are large and vented. The truck’s appearance is reminiscent of classic Pikes Peak racers.
Ford’s participation in Pikes Peak is not just about debuting a new trim; it’s a serious attempt to set a record on the 12.5-mile course. To underscore this, Ford has enlisted Romain Dumas, who holds the current record at Pikes Peak with the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak. Dumas’s expertise increases the likelihood of the SuperTruck achieving a remarkable time.
The Lightning SuperTruck will be seen during qualifying from June 18th to 20th, with the race taking place on Sunday, June 23rd. Other notable entrants include Quarkus with its P3 platform, also supported by Dumas, and Hyundai, which aims to break records with four Ioniq 5 Ns.
