Ford elevates eco-driving with the Tourneo Connect PHEV, offering up to 110 km of electric range and cutting-edge hybrid technology for versatile travel.

Ford is set to enhance the versatility of the Tourneo Connect, a favored seven-seat multi-activity vehicle, by integrating an innovative plug-in hybrid powertrain. This advancement marks a segment-first for the model and reinforces Ford’s commitment to electrification in Europe’s competitive automotive landscape. The introduction of the Tourneo Connect Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) aims to elevate the vehicle’s adaptability and efficiency, allowing for up to 110 km of pure-electric driving and zero tailpipe emissions in low-emission zones.

The Tourneo Connect PHEV is part of Ford’s broader initiative to electrify its Tourneo people mover lineup in Europe, which also includes the compact E-Tourneo Courier, the eight-seat E-Tourneo Custom, and the nine-seat Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid. This move completes the electrification of the Tourneo family, showcasing Ford’s commitment to providing eco-friendly transportation solutions.

Rich Hughes, the Tourneo brand manager at Ford Europe, highlighted the vehicle’s enhanced capabilities and flexibility. He emphasized the PHEV model’s suitability for various activities, from daily commutes to leisure adventures, thanks to its significant electric range. This development aligns with Ford’s strategy to meet the evolving needs of European customers, particularly those seeking environmentally conscious transportation options.

The Tourneo Connect PHEV features a sophisticated powertrain that combines a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a high-voltage battery and electric motor, delivering 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The vehicle supports fast charging up to 50 kW with DC chargers and home recharging via AC charging up to 11 kW, providing flexibility for both long travels and daily use.

Ford has introduced user-friendly drive modes to help drivers maximize the efficiency of the hybrid system, including EV Now, EV Auto, EV Later, and EV Reserve. This approach ensures that the Tourneo Connect PHEV can adapt to various driving conditions and preferences, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Tourneo Connect PHEV does not compromise on space or versatility, offering up to 3.1 m3 of boot space in the Grand Tourneo Connect PHEV variant. The model also boasts a modern «digital cockpit» with dual 10-inch displays and connectivity through the SYNC infotainment system, compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Ford has equipped the Tourneo Connect PHEV with advanced driver assistance systems, maintaining the same high safety standards as its petrol and diesel counterparts. These technologies aim to provide a secure and convenient driving experience, further solidifying the vehicle’s appeal to families and professionals alike.

The FordPass app enhances the Tourneo Connect PHEV experience, offering features like electric driving range monitoring, battery charge status, and maintenance alerts. The app also provides remote door locking and location services, adding an extra layer of convenience for users.

Ford will offer the Tourneo Connect PHEV in three trim levels: Trend, Titanium, and Active, each catering to different customer preferences with a range of features and styling options. This strategic lineup ensures that there is a Tourneo Connect PHEV variant suitable for every need, from the practical and stylish to the rugged and adventurous.

With order books opening later in summer 2024 and initial deliveries expected in the final quarter, the Tourneo Connect PHEV is poised to make a significant impact on the European market, offering a compelling blend of flexibility, efficiency, and innovative technology.
