The 2024 Kia Sorento continues to enhance its appeal with a combination of modern styling, advanced technology, and diverse powertrain options, making it a versatile choice in the mid-size SUV segment.
Design and Interior
The 2024 Sorento features a refreshed front with a «funky fresh» design, new exterior colors such as Midnight Lake Blue and Dawning Red, and slightly revised taillights inspired by the Telluride. Inside, the Sorento boasts a modern, open-feeling interior highlighted by a panoramic curved display that integrates dual 12.3-inch digital gauge clusters and infotainment screens. The new setup supports Kia’s next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system, which processes data faster and allows for over-the-air updates.
Powertrain Options
The 2024 Sorento offers a range of powertrains carried over from the previous model. The standard gasoline option is a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower. For those seeking more power, the upper trims feature a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 281 horsepower. Additionally, the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models provide fuel-efficient alternatives. The hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor, producing 227 horsepower, while the plug-in hybrid variant features a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor, yielding 261 horsepower and an electric-only range of up to 57 km (35 miles) on the WLTP cycle.
Technology and Safety
The Sorento is equipped with advanced technology, including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple USB-C ports, and Kia’s switchable control system for the infotainment and climate control. Standard safety features across all trims include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning, and Highway Driving Assist 2, among others. The X-Pro and X-Line trims, designed for enhanced off-road capabilities, come with additional features like torque vectoring all-wheel drive and increased ground clearance.
Practicality
Sorento remains practical with ample cargo space—179 liters with all seats up, 608 liters with the third row down, and 1,996 liters with just the front seats up. It also includes a full-size alloy spare wheel, which is a significant convenience for many buyers.
Availability and Pricing
The 2024 Sorento is available in various trims, including the LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-P. The new X-Pro trim offers off-road enhancements and is exclusive to the SX-P trim. Pricing starts at around $33,365 for the base LX model, with higher trims offering additional features and luxury touches.
