The Chevrolet Bolt EV, introduced in 2017, quickly became a significant player in the electric vehicle market. Developed by GM Korea, the Bolt gained recognition for its innovation, being named the 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year and featuring in Time magazine’s Best 25 Inventions of 2016. It was one of the top-selling plug-in cars in the U.S. in its debut year. Despite its success, the Bolt faced challenges, including recalls due to battery fire risks, leading to production halts. GM discontinued the Bolt in 2023, planning to focus on new electric vehicles utilizing Ultium technology, but later hinted at a potential second-generation Bolt.
