Porsche Introduces Two New E-Hybrid Variants of the Panamera
Porsche is expanding its Panamera lineup with the introduction of two new plug-in hybrid models, the 4 E-Hybrid and the 4S E-Hybrid, marking a significant enhancement in the sports sedan's performance capabilities and electric performance.
This move is part of Porsche’s ongoing E-Performance strategy, aimed at responding to the growing interest in efficient and dynamic e-hybrid drives across various markets. With these additions, the Panamera now offers four performance variants of this advanced drivetrain technology.
The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid stands out for its efficiency and versatility. It features a newly developed e-hybrid system paired with a comprehensively revised 2.9L V6 biturbo gasoline engine, delivering a combined system power of 470 hp (346 kW) and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 280 km/h. Moreover, its purely electric range has been increased to 96 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, highlighting its improved efficiency.
On the other hand, the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid places a greater emphasis on driving dynamics and sustained power delivery at higher rev ranges. Powered by a 2.9L biturbo six-cylinder engine that produces 353 hp (260 kW), the system’s total output is 544 hp (400 kW) with a maximum torque of 750 Nm. This enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 290 km/h.
Both E-Hybrid models boast an extended electric range, faster charging speeds, more agile responsiveness, and enhanced performance across nearly all disciplines compared to their predecessors. The new high-voltage battery offers about 45% more capacity at 25.9 kWh, while the newly developed electric motor provides significantly more power with 190 hp (140 kW) and 450 Nm of torque, further contributing to the increased electric range.
The vehicles feature four optimized E-Hybrid-specific driving modes along with improved Sport and Sport Plus modes, enhancing the efficiency of the e-hybrid models further. Starting always in the pure electric mode E-Power, the system automatically switches to Hybrid Auto mode when the battery’s charge level falls below a predefined minimum. This mode adapts the operating strategy to the current driving situation, optimizing efficiency, especially in urban traffic by maximizing the proportion of the distance covered electrically.
All variants of the new Panamera showcase an athletic and fresh design. The front is defined by newly shaped, standard Matrix LED headlights and an additional horizontal air intake, while the rear features a continuous light strip and a frameless rear window, enhancing the sports sedan’s appearance. Standard equipment for the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid includes 19-inch wheels, black brake calipers, and Matrix LED headlights, with an option for high-resolution HD Matrix LED lighting system. The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid sets itself apart with 20-inch Panamera AeroDesign wheels, silver sports tailpipes, and red brake calipers, with optional acid green and black calipers and standard ten-piston brake calipers at the front axle.
Porsche’s introduction of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid models underscores the brand’s commitment to combining sporty performance with sustainability, offering drivers an exhilarating yet eco-friendly driving experience.
