Celebrate with Mazda’s Limited-Edition MX-5 Miata
Exclusive features await, including a unique paint option and enhanced performance upgrades.
Mazda’s beloved small sports car is marking its 35th anniversary this year. To celebrate, the automaker will launch a special edition of the Miata, announced by MX-5 Miata Program Manager Shigeki Saito. He confirmed Mazda’s plans to produce this commemorative model.
During his speech at the 2024 Karuizawa Meeting last month, Saito assured Miata enthusiasts that the 35th Anniversary model will be available for a limited time, though there won’t be a cap on production numbers. Anyone ordering the 35th Anniversary Edition within the specified period will secure one.
Details on the upcoming anniversary model are sparse, but it’s known to feature a unique paint color. Fans are eager, with many hoping for shades like British Racing Green or a metallic golden yellow. Speculation leans toward the latter, as Saito hinted during the Karuizawa Meeting by referring to a gold pen used for signing documents—a subtle clue.
Apart from the color, much about the 35th Anniversary Edition remains a mystery. However, insights from the 30th Anniversary Edition, launched in 2019, suggest it could boast distinctive elements such as special Racing Orange paint, Rays forged wheels, and unique badging. Performance enhancements were also part of the package, including Brembo front brakes, Nissin rear brakes (painted orange), and Bilstein dampers for manual transmission models. Interior accents in orange, a premium Bose sound system, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto were also featured.
The 2024 model year updates for the Mazda MX-5 Miata promise enhancements that sharpen its sports car appeal in a user-friendly manner.
As for availability, it remains uncertain if the MX-5 Miata 35th Anniversary will reach the United States, though expectations are optimistic given the strong Miata following there. Historically, despite initial global limits like the 3,000-unit cap (including 500 for the US) for the last model, high demand led to extended production and additional units allocated to America. Like its predecessor, the upcoming anniversary edition is likely to offer a choice between manual and automatic transmissions.
