Discover how Hyundai Ioniq 5’s lease costs compare favorably to the Nissan Versa, highlighting affordability and EV advantages.

Electric vehicles (EVs) have historically come with a price premium, limiting their appeal. However, an increasing number of attractive lease offers are making EVs more accessible to the general public. A prime example of this shift is evident in the United States, where leasing a brand new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is now more affordable than leasing a Nissan Versa.

Hyundai has aggressively promoted the Ioniq 5 with compelling lease deals over the past year. For instance, the mid-range Ioniq 5 SEL RWD can currently be leased for an astonishingly low $229 per month over 24 months, with an initial payment of $3,499. Despite the model’s $47,400 MSRP before destination fees, the effective monthly lease cost totals $375 after factoring in the upfront payment.

In contrast, the 2024 Nissan Versa can only be leased for $381 per month over 36 months with $0 down. This makes it $6 more expensive per month, despite its significantly lower MSRP of $19,490, as reported by Cars Direct.

While the Ioniq 5 is larger and generally not directly compared to the Versa in terms of market segment, these lease rates underscore the growing affordability of EVs. This is particularly appealing for consumers who have convenient access to home charging and can avoid reliance on sometimes unreliable public charging infrastructure.

The Ioniq 5 SEL RWD features a single electric motor generating 225 hp and offers an impressive range of up to 303 miles (488 km) on a single charge. It also includes Hyundai’s advanced Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) with autonomous lane changes on highways—a feature not available on the Versa, which comes with basic amenities such as 15-inch steel wheels and halogen headlights.

Given these considerations, the choice between these vehicles boils down to preferences and needs. For those interested in advanced technology, spacious interiors, and the environmental benefits of electric driving, the Ioniq 5 emerges as a compelling option in the current automotive landscape.
