New BMW M5 Sedan and Touring Coming Soon with Enhanced Power and Styling
The latest BMW M5, arriving this July, will feature both sedan and Touring variants with a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering 718 hp.
It’s hard not to love the BMW M5, and the latest-generation model is just around the corner. This new iteration promises more power than its predecessor and will be available in both sedan and Touring variants, with both offered in the United States.
Earlier this month, BMW tested camouflaged prototypes of the new M5 Sedan and Touring at the Nurburgring. These clear images reveal their aggressive styling ahead of the official unveiling.
The prototype sedan, painted matte black with camouflage on the front and rear fascias and the roof, shows significant modifications to the front fascia, including a new lower grille for a more menacing look. The car also features muscular arches, a dramatic rear diffuser, and quad tailpipes.
The M5 Touring is particularly exciting, sharing the sedan’s front-end treatment but with an overall shape that’s arguably more appealing. It also sports a sharp roof-mounted spoiler. Anyone considering an Audi RS6 Avant might want to hold off and see this model first.
The new M5 is likely to feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the BMW XM. This setup includes a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. While BMW may detune it slightly from the XM Label Red, the powertrain is expected to deliver 718 hp and 760 lb-ft (1,030 Nm) of torque, giving it nearly 100 hp more than the RS6.
BMW is expected to unveil the new M5 Sedan and M5 Touring this July.
